Johannesburg, May 2011: A late
developer, TsaTsa participated in her first show just days
after she turned 18 months old. There was much excitement as
the whole family left the house in Nelspruit so early in
the morning that it was still dark to drive up to
Johannesburg. With only a brief stop for breakfast on the way,
we arrived in Johannesburg four hours later for the Transvaal
Terrier Club Show held at Goldfields,
Bedfordview.
It was a cold
day but Lola and Josie were excited to see their little
'sister' show off.
The judge was Margaret Jones from
Canada who started the morning with over 60 Staffordshire Bull
Terriers to assess. TsaTsa was ready after the (Standard) Bull
Terriers but had a half an hour wait at the entrance of the ring while the
judge caught up with her judging reports.
TsaTsa took it
all in her stride and was much better than her handler who
showed her inexperience by getting between the judge and the
show dog and then lifting the show dog up onto the table
back to front to present the judge with TsaTsa's back end
before quickly correcting herself!
Nonetheless, the judge said that
TsaTsa was a "beautiful little girl" and gave her her first
Challenge Certificate and Best of Breed! Later in the day TsaTsa represented the
Miniature Bull terrier in the ring but by this time she had
had enough. The rambunctious (Standard) Bull Terrier in front
of her made her very wary and reluctant to get too close but
his spirited presence in the ring and his good looks earned
him Best in Show!

Well done to Shodan Chilly Peppers and
Bennie van Niekerk!

TsaTsa, Lola and Josie had a little
runaround on the fields before we all climbed in the car
and drove the four hours back home to Nelspruit. All-in-all it
was a great
adventure!
